John Baldessari. Pure Beauty
The most comprehensive retrospective of John Baldessari mounted in Spain, on view at MACBA in 2010. Organised by Tate Modern in association with MACBA, it gathered some 130 works made between 1962 and 2009.
Pure Beauty was on view at MACBA from 11 February to 25 April 2010, organised by Tate Modern in association with MACBA and curated by Jessica Morgan, Leslie Jones and Bartomeu Marí. The retrospective brought together around 130 works produced between 1962 and 2009 – from early pop-influenced paintings to text paintings, photocompositions, videos, sculptures, artist's books and a multimedia installation made for the show – along with the remains of the Cremation Project (1970). The exhibition travelled from Tate Modern in London to MACBA, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
