Lydia Ourahmane. 108 Days
Inhabiting, gathering, sharing, being permeable..., these are all qualities that infuse the site-specific project 108 Days by Lydia Ourahmane in the Museum's tower. The title refers both to the days the exhibition is open to the public and to the number of participants who have been invited by the artist to engage with the space during this period.
108 Days was a site-specific project by Lydia Ourahmane in the MACBA tower, on view from 28 November 2023 to 1 April 2024 and curated by Guim Camps and Hiuwai Chu. The title refers both to the days the project was open and to the number of participants the artist invited to act in the space across that period. Rather than installing finished works, Ourahmane left the gallery largely empty and handed the commission to 108 individuals and collectives from Barcelona's social and artistic life, each presenting what they found urgent. The project carried the city's context into the museum and set aside its usual collection-based display.
