Anna Moreno. The Third Twist
The exhibition The Third Torsion presents recent works by Anna Moreno that reflect on temporality through utopian architecture and the potential of speculative imagination. The central piece is The Terminal Beach, part of a trilogy that contraposes projects by Ricardo Bofill with short stories by James Graham Ballard.
Anna Moreno. The Third Twist ran at MACBA from 5 February to 28 September 2026, curated by Hiuwai Chu and Zaida Trallero. The exhibition presented three works forming a trilogy the artist developed from three projects by the architect Ricardo Bofill and three short stories by J. G. Ballard. The central work, The Terminal Beach (2024–2025), is a film co-directed with Bernardo Zanotta. Shot as a road movie, it documents the present state of a nomadic settlement Bofill built in 1979 in the Algerian Sahara on a commission from the then president Houari Boumédienne. Conceived to modern criteria, the complex was never finished, and the film sets the ambition of that moment against the reality of modern colonial legacies. The project was presented within the framework of Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture.
