John Baldessari
American conceptual artist working with appropriated photography, text and language. A founding teacher at CalArts, his students included David Salle, Mike Kelley and Jack Goldstein. Received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2009 Venice Biennale. Died in Los Angeles in 2020.
