On Collecting, Preserving and the Archival Impulse. A conversation between Akram Zaatari and Hiuwai Chu

A public conversation between Akram Zaatari and Hiuwai Chu held in 2019 around the touring exhibition Akram Zaatari. Against Photography. An Annotated History of the Arab Image Foundation, which Chu curated with Bartomeu Marí. The exhibition reflects on the Arab Image Foundation and its collections through the work of its co-founder, and the talk took up questions of collecting, preservation, authorship and the conditions of the photographic document. The exhibition was produced by MACBA and shown at MACBA (2017) and K21 in Düsseldorf (2017) before travelling to Sharjah and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul (2018).
