Andrea Fraser. L'1%, c'est moi
Andrea Fraser’s first solo exhibition in Spain brings together a selection of works from over thirty years of critical engagement with the art field, from early works on paper based on appropriation, seminal gallery talks and multi-voiced performances, to installations, text-based works and documentation.
Andrea Fraser. L'1%, c'est moi was the artist's first solo exhibition in Spain, on view at MACBA from 22 April to 1 October 2016, curated by Cuauhtémoc Medina and Hiuwai Chu. It was organised by MACBA together with the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), Mexico City, where it travelled from 15 October 2016 to 12 March 2017. The exhibition brought together works from more than three decades of practice – early works on paper based on appropriation, gallery talks and multi-voiced performances, installations, text-based works and documentation. Identified with institutional critique and informed by feminism, psychoanalysis and the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu, Fraser's work analyses the social mechanisms, conflicts and hierarchies of the art field.
